Ok, didn't get on with my sloe g in making so have had to start all over again.
Shame on you I say to myself, all that hard picking and pricking and all those blog readers waiting for part 2!!
So .... picked more sloes today, I can't believe how many there are around where I work in Suffolk, and no weak small little tiddlers, nice large blue ripe sloes, so picked a whole bunch dodging the thorns (hawthorn bushes I believe they are - but correct me if I am wrong).
Got the gin bottle, sloshed a good amount into a glass for me to sup whilst working and then pricked new sloes and slipped them into an 1l litre empty gin bottle (which I was keeping for said purpose).
When the bottle was approx 1/3 full I added approx 400 grams of sugar and topped it all up with gin, it amounted to near enough 70cl
Shook the bottle a bit and have now put it in a corner of the kitchen worktop with the intention of shaking and turning every 2 or 3 for 2-3 weeks.
Then drank my gin
Will keep you posted.
